A transformative empowerment initiative dedicated to equipping women with disabilities in Lagos with practical, income-generating skills that promote independence, confidence, dignity, and long-term economic inclusion.

Our Story

Mephibosheth’s Table was born out of a clear and urgent reality, over 35.1 million Nigerians live with disabilities (National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, 2024). Among them, women experience a deeper and more layered form of exclusion, where disability intersects with gender to intensify barriers to education, employment, leadership, entrepreneurship, and economic participation.

Behind these statistics are real lives, women with strength, intelligence and ambition, yet too often denied access to the systems that shape opportunity, dignity and visibility.

This initiative was created to change that narrative.

Mephibosheth’s Table is a safe and intentional space one that recognizes women with disabilities not by limitation, but by potential. It is a response to exclusion, a call to justice, and a commitment to ensuring that no woman is left behind.

Here, voices are amplified, dignity is restored, and real pathways to empowerment, through learning, livelihoods, entrepreneurship, leadership and opportunity are intentionally created.

In Nigeria today, over 35.1 million people live with disabilities, a reality that places this conversation not at the margins, but at the very centre of our national responsibility.

But behind every number is a life, often navigating a world that was not designed with them in mind.

I have met women whose greatest struggle is not their disability, but invisibility. Women whose strength is unquestionable, yet whose opportunities remain limited not by ability, but by access. Women who carry talent, intelligence, and resilience, yet are too often excluded from systems that determine education, employment, and dignity.

It is from this lived reality that Mephibosheth’s Table for Women with Disabilities was born.

This is not charity. It is correction.
It is not sympathy. It is structure.
It is not presence alone but participation with dignity.

At this Table, women are not defined by limitation, but recognized by potential. We are building pathways that open doors to education, job placement, skills development, entrepreneurship, leadership and meaningful inclusion because empowerment is only real when it leads to independence.

This work demands more than awareness. It demands intention. It demands systems that see, include, and sustain.

And so we continue not as an act of goodwill, but as a responsibility to ensure that no woman is rendered invisible by circumstance.
